Mountaineering in Ladakh

The environment in LADAKH is fragile as the survival of the inhabitants depends upon the land, despite its apparent starkness. As such, it’s our endeavour to keep our trekking locals clean and pollution free and request same to the trekkers. Every one should ensure that no garbage is left undisposed at camp site. Plastic containers and polythene wrappers must be incinerated or brought back, while other types of garbage should be properly buried.

Too often mountaineering is judged by success or failure, were the mountain is "conquered" or a climber is "defeated". More perceptively the mountain is eternally victorious and a climber who has tested himself physically, emotionally and spiritually will always come away from the experience fulfilled. We need to get permission from Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) Delhi & takes 03 months, since 2007 IMF has opened up an office for issuing permits for few peaks of nearby. So it has become easier & less expensive.

LADAKH is mountaineers delight with numerous mountain ranges all across the region. Mountain climbing and trekking are physically demanding and medical facilities are very limited in the remote areas of Ladakh. You must certify that you are in good health as part of the expedition.

For more than a decade we have been actively involved in the safe rendering of adventure lovers to the most exhilarating adventure sports with experienced mountain guides, cooks and Pony men, our emphasis is to provide you a crew with good understanding and teamwork.

MENTOK PEAKS (6172m.)

These are two lovely peaks on a long ridge running south from KORZOK village. In July and August the entire Korzok phulu valley is green with flowers giving the peak it's name MENTOK; means flower in Ladakhi.
Mentok 1 requires some delicate climbing but Mentok 2 is fairly simple climb going up steep slopes. From the summit there is excellent view of LUNGSER peak(6666m) & CHHAMSER peak(6622m) to the east across Tsomoriri lake.
KORZOK is a small village and most of its inhabitants are nomadic shepherds. Their sheep produce pashmina, one of the most expensive types of wool. The recent boom in its value has led to their prosperity, though this is not evident in their lifestyle.
The shortest time required is 4 days for the climb. Two days is required for going and coming back from TSOMORIRI LAKE by jeep as the starting point is 240 kms. from Leh.
